John Schlytter

I lost touch with John after High School. We used to hang out with the same group of kids in High School. He was smart and witty and fun to be around. John L. Schlytter, age 55, of Menomonie, died Thursday, June 12, 2003, at Myrtle Werth Hospital-Mayo Health System in Menomonie. John was born Sept. 16, 1947, in Menomonie to Leland and Ardith (Lokken) Schlytter. John spent five years living in St. Paul, Minn., then lived in San Leandro, Calif., for 30 years. John attended Hayward Cal State in California. He worked in Emeryville, Calif., until he became ill. In 1990, he moved to Menomonie where he remained the rest of his life. John was recently being cared for at home with hospice. John loved to read, working with wood, and model trains. He will be missed very much by his family and friends. John is survived by his mother, Ardith; a sister, Rebecca (Bob) Robbers of Herald, Calif.; two nieces, Jessica and Megan Robbers of Herald; his grandmother, Nora Lokken of Menomonie; a very good friend, Glenn Fong of Alameda, Calif.; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Leland on March 16, 2003; his grandfather, Arthur Lokken; and his grandparents, Carl and Essie Schlytter. No services are planned. Stanton-Goodrich-Rhiel Funeral Home in Menomonie is serving the family.
