Greg Walker, Nancy Salsedo Meyers, Melinda Wetzel Oliver, and I agreed tonight on the site for our 45th reunion: The Four Points Sheraton with the fabulous Faz restaurant catering the buffet. The Four Points Sheraton is a very pretty place and we're pretty excited, very excited, about it. Ambience is relaxed, and the location---at the junction of 580 and 680---in Pleasanton is easy to get to. There's even a BART station within a mile of the hotel for classmates who might fly into Oakland. The room rates ($69/$79) for a beautiful room are so reasonable and we're hoping that our classmates will "join the party" on Saturday, October 2, 2010.

Even if you've NEVER come to a reunion before, you'll surely have a great time at this one. . . seeing how cute and hep we all still look and are! Looking forward to seeing everyone!

Hello everyone,
Google, Facebook, twitter, whatever... Help us find as many classmates as possible and send them to this site to update their profile and keep in touch.

And then...get as many of us to the reunion as we can.
Let's make this the party of the decade!

Great to see the photos that Lawrn Seeley posted! Is there's a fisher trend with a few of the SLHS Pirate men? Good fishing the first-second week of October in the SF Bay Area? Santa Cruz? Would that get the fishers to the reunion?

I just suggested in an email to Lawrnie that an Oregonian caravan be formed. Circle the wagons and come on down to the Bay Area for the reunion, all you northern folk!!

The reunion committee tried to sing the school song the other night...sad attempt at the words although we seemed to have the beat down.  How many of you remember the words?

Here you go:

Hail, San Leandro, hats off to you.

Ever you'll find us loyal and true,

Firm and undaunted always we'll be,

Hail to the school we love,

Here's a toast to you.

Fight on, ye Pirates, fight for our school,

We're cheering for you; we're proud of you.

Fight ever forward; our goal's in view,

Hail, Pirates, fight, fight, fight, for the red and blue!

Mustang Sally, Wilson Pickett not someone else. Doggin Around, Jackie Wilson,

Do you love me, the Contours, Hold on I'm Commin, Sam and Dave. I can't think right now but if I could find out how

to work the thing myself I wouldn't have to bother anyone! LOL!

Have a great day!

THOSE WERE THE DAYS

ONE FINE DAY in June of ‘65

Before summer’s HEATWAVE

And years before the age of AQUARIUS,

The soon-to-be SLHS grads

Lined up for graduation practice.

One grad pointed to another: “I WILL FOLLOW HIM”

And another said: “I wish you would STAND BY ME”

‘cuz I WANT TO HOLD YOUR HAND.

They heard the downbeat of Pomp and Circumstance

And they marched---with Mr. Vassar commanding:

“TURN! TURN! TURN!

Were you BORN TO BE WILD?!!!!

You make me want to SHOUT!!!”

Ms Jansen (and Ms. Young) smilin’

Just feelin’ those GOOD VIBRATIONS

Thinking of YESTERDAY AT THE HOP,

Sighing, ALL I HAVE TO DO IS DREAM, dream…

There were BROWN EYED GIRLs,

PRETTY BLUE EYES,

SHERRYs, MARIAs,

SARAHs, DONNAs,

MARYLOUs, BARBARA ANNs,

SHEILAs, BOBBY’S GIRL,

…all CALIFORNIA GIRLS far from IPANEMA.

Girls and boys with destinations in mind:

SAN FRANCISCO with flowers in their hair,

SURF CITY, DOWNTOWN, DANCIN’ IN THE STREET,

A SUMMER PLACE, a SUGAR SHACK

And goals: GET A JOB, WALK LIKE A MAN,

Be a TRAVELIN’MAN, a WANDERER,

Neon lights ON BROADWAY.

Those days for some grads

Were STAYIN’ ALIVE days,

TOSSIN’ AND TURNIN’

Looking for RESPECT

Life like a SPINNING WHEEL,

Thinking RUNAWAY.

They sang emotive songs about love

Explaining IT’S ALL IN THE GAME.

And about politics and issues

Proclaiming IF I HAD A HAMMER.

And within two years they’d understand the answer to

WHERE HAVE ALL THE FLOWERS GONE?

…to soldiers everywhere.

Gail Garrison Cain ( I'm sure there's more to be written/added to this music motivated prose, including "friendships to CHERISH.")

Gailie,  That was great!

And you thought my little ditty was poetic...no comparison.

We’re spreading the news,
Celebrate!
Drive
You’re Mustang, Sally
GTO, or Little deuce coup.
Can’t get no satisfaction?
We suggest Steppin out with your baby
And going to the SLHS Class of ’65 reunion!

All the California girls we know are
Havin’ a party that night.

It's going to be an Affair to Remember!
