Nicholas Viesselman VIEW PROFILE

After 6 years in the US Navy ('66-'72) in the nuclear power program, he used his GI Bill to complete a BA at CSUH in Drama and Political Science. He worked briefly as a theater manager at UC Santa Barbara, then decided there was better money--and better work hours--working at Vandenburg AFB as a contractor. He spent the next several years, helping after 6 years in the US Navy ('66-'72) in the nuclear power program, he used his GI Bill to complete a BA at CSUH in Drama and Political Science. He worked briefly as a theater manager at UC Santa Barbara, then decided there was better money--and better work hours--working at Vandenburg AFB as a contractor. He spent the next several years, helping put up rockets and spy satellites. And discovering that the hours were no better. A congenital kidney problem sidelined him from that. He moved with his second wife, an aspiring artist, to the Eureka area, where they lived for some years. When they got divorced, he retired to Salem, OR, where he enjoyed the last 7 years of his life.

I remember Nick as a super nice easy going guy from elementary school through High School , he joined the submarine service after High School and would go out in subs for 6 months and then get 6 months off.  Last time I saw him was at CSUH and he was glad to be out of the service.  Interesting that he went from Subs in the service to Missiles as a career.  Rest in Peace my friend.
