In Memory

Leonard Beraz

I went to school with Leonard at Jefferson Grammer School. He use to come over to my house in the morning to walk me to school. When then lost contact but he found me when I ran away from home when I was abbot 14. Leonards mom worked at Fremont High school in the library Leonard was the boy that taught me how to French kiss. what a great friend. I'm sorry he is gone.

Leonard was my little 7th grade sweetie, which means he walked me home from school a few times. "No! You can't hold my hand!!" He liked me cuz we both had green eyes. I liked him, cuz Leonard was my grandpa's name.

I recall he was always in trouble with Mr. Abrams. My first 'bad boy' boyfriend. ;-) Rest in the deepest peace, Len.

I remember Lenny and hanging out with him from grammar school into high school.  Like Melinda said, he was a bad boy but only kind of a bad boy.  He did not have to play by all the rules that most of us did.  He lived with only his mother and she pretty much let him run.  I don't remember if it was in junior high or the beginning of high school, but he would steal his mother's car, a 55 Oldsmobile, and we would go all over in that car.  Down to Santa Cruz, over to San Francisco, where ever we could go and be back before his mother.  He was only about 14, so if we had ever gotten stopped we would have gone right to jail.  But luckily that never happened.  He stole that car so much with his mom finding out, that by the time he was 15 she would just let him take it.  And by that time she had gotten a new Dodge Dart and we were cool.  She also let us have a couple of beers now and then which was like icing on the cake.  I had a lot of crazy good times with Lenny back then.  Lenny was one of those guys who made growing up dangerous and fun.  I will always remember those times and him.

I sure remember the great cocktail party Leonard hosted before the Senior Prom at the Claremont Hotel.  I think his mom had an apartment near the hotel and he had everyone's liquor labeled with their name so they could order their own booze.  Great party Lenny.
